However, after the death of Caliban and injury of Hepzibah, it was believed that X-Force was disbanded.īut in the aftermath of Messiah Complex, Cyclops reassembled them once again. They also participated in the final battle against the Marauders on Muir Island. Their first mission was to track Cable and the newly discovered Baby Mutant, before the Purifiers, Marauders Reavers and Predator X could get them first. The new team is made out of Wolverine as team leader, X-23, Warpath, Wolfsbane, Caliban and Hepzibah. In the middle of the Messiah CompleX storyline, Cyclops assembled a new X-Force, which consist of the X-Men's best trackers. Several former members went on to join Xavier's X-corporation. X-Force apparently disbanded shortly after the new team that would eventually be known as the X-Statix swiped their name without permission. X-Force recruited Pete Wisdom to train them for a time. X-Force continued its status as an outlaw band of mutants, dodging both their enemies and the government agents of Operation: Zero Tolerance. X-Force's members were taken prisoner and locked up in the X-Men's Danger Room for a time. A fight ensued, but it was only when the X-Men joined in that X-Force was defeated. Assuming Cable was the assassin, X-Factor hunted for X-Force. When Cable's clone Stryfe made an assassination attempt on Professor Charles Xavier, the assassin seemed to be Cable. Siryn and Spider-Man aided the team when Black Tom and the Juggernaut attempted to bomb the World Trade Center in New York. Cable's basic philosophy, which he related to his team, was "Get them before they get you." X-Force was involved in attacks on mutants such as the Mutant Liberation Front, and was itself branded early in its career as a group of terrorists. Where the other X-teams believed in protecting humans from evil mutants, X-Force adopted a proactive attitude towards mutant terrorists. The real Domino joined the group after she was rescued). After most of the New Mutants went their separate ways, Cable reorganized the team, which originally consisted of the mutants Cannonball, Boom-Boom (later renamed as Meltdown), Warpath (now known as Proudstar), Shatterstar, Feral, and "Domino" (It was later revealed that "Domino" was actually a shapeshifter named Copycat. X-Force was created from the team known as the New Mutants by the half-cyborg mutant known as Cable. Despite this the team has featured some X-Men members over the years most notably Wolverine, X-23, Archangel, Psylocke, Warpath, the Age of Apocalypse version of Nightcrawler, and even Storm. X-Force differs from the main X-Men as unlike their more heroic counterparts, X-Force are anti-heroes in nature and are more militant, aggressive, and lethal. It's great that a book can make me feel one way or other, and I thank Remender for that and the other writers that helped to shape Psylocke to what we've come to know.Ī great read, and still the best of the X-Books. Yeah, she may kill people, deservingly so, but she is still a classy woman and sans the Kwannon persona!Īgain, I find myself laughing. Just write it well, and make me feel like it's the right thing, cause I dislike seeing relationships in X-Books moving at hundreds of miles per hour and honestly, I just do not want Betsy to be the resident slut. If it's going to end between them, that's fine. Their history is one of the better ones out there, you have to admit. Most don't like them as a couple, but I do like Betsy and Warren together. Psylocke is a long-time favorite of mine, and I do not want to see her jumping from teammate to teammate. Glad the kiss is finally over with and out of the way. The way it's been written, since the first issue, I do not see in any way that Psylocke has any feelings for Fantomex, let alone any attraction, really. To her credit, she pulled away, and shame on Fantomex for taking advantage of her when she's so obviously troubled and vulnerable. It happened exactly as I knew it would, too, as I'm sure everyone else can just as easily deduce once you start reading their lines from the first panel. Just like the literal forced-kiss between Fantomex and Psylocke (it's on the cover!) As soon as you see them talking you already know exactly how it's going to happen, and as I feared it wasn't a surprise at all. And I don't want to mention too much and spoil anything. Logan and AoA-Jean was excellently written.
